Gabriel was born in Bogotá, Colombia where his father was a Professor of Environmental Engineering at Universidad de los Andes. In 2001 his family moved to New Jersey to purse new employment and educational opportunities in the United States. Gabriel chose to attend Johns Hopkins University due to their flexibility, the ability to take classes across multiple disciplines, which has led Gabriel to pursue a dual degree in in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
